The Curator of the DHM Gallery has announced that one of my Locking Lid Canisters was awarded in this year’s competition.

If you are interested in what the DHM Gallery is, here is a blurb posted on the site. “The DHM Digital Gallery was established to promote and celebrate the creativity and value of applied design, which enriches the world around us on a daily basis, but is often underappreciated. While the specific focus of individual gallery exhibits vary, always emphasized is innovation for the purpose of enhancing the sensory, aesthetic component of human interaction with material objects.

The Gallery is operated by the Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising (DHM)) in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at Oklahoma State University, a five-campus educational institution with an enrollment of approximately 32,000 students from 115 different nations. The Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising provides graduate and undergraduate education to more than 350 students, including degrees that promote applied design, product development, and entrepreneurial business management.”

Harvest Art Fest 2010

“Homemade Art, Food for the Body and Soul” is the theme for this year’s show. Growers, artists and craftsmen of Central Texas will be on display for this year’s Fest on November 26th and 27th from 10 am to 5:30 pm each day. Parking is available all around the Market Area. The Bastrop Association for the Fine Arts is sponsoring this annual event with a raffle to be held on the 27th to raise funds for their many civic projects that benefit all of Bastrop County.

Antiqued Gold Leaf – 110130

The golden tones in Texas Chinaberry have been re-enforced with gold leaf that has been bonded to this top rim. The leaf has been treated to bring out a random pattern of reds to produce a dramatic accent to this hand turned piece. 11-1/2″ wide by 3-1/4″ deep.

Shallow Cottonwood Dish – 110129

A natural knot was discovered in the bottom of this hand turned Texas Cottonwood dish. Slight spalting runs through the grain under the clear food safe finish. 10-1/2″ wide by 2-1/2″ deep.

Fancyful inlay for Spalted Hackberry – 110128

White Calcite was used in this hand carved inlay around the rim accented by burned accents along the pattern. The bowl is hand turned spalted Hackberry. 11-1/4″ wide by 4-1/5″ deep.

Oriental charm is introduced into this Texas Mesquite place setting. The outside of each bowl has been hand rubbed with a black tint to allow only the most dramatic grain to show through the deep finish. 6″ wide by 2-1/4″ wide.
